IMMUNOTECHNOLOGY Presentation Transcript:
1. IMMUNOTECHNOLOGY
2. Introduction:
Immunology is a broad branch of biomedical science that covers the study of all aspects of the immune system in all organisms. It deals with the physiological functioning of the immune system.
Immunology is consist of mainly two types of molecules: Antigens & Antibodies.
Immunotechnology, is an important arm of biotechnology, constituting the industrial scale application of immunological procedures to produce vaccines, immunological therapeutic agents to cure the afflicted.
3. ADVIA Centaur
Automated, immunoassay analyzer.
Based on the principle of Chemiluminescence.
Optimal productivity is 240 tests/hr.
Ensures sample integrity.
Automatically performs daily cleaning procedure.
TESTS BY ADVIA CENTAUR:
T3, T4 &TSH
FT3, FT4, FSH
LH
Prolactin
Estradiol
Progesterone
4. IMMULITE
Automated immunoassay system.
System utilizes assay specific, antigen or antibody coated plastic beads which are called Test Unit, as the solid phase, alkaline-phosphatase labeled reagent and a chemiluminescent substrate.
On Immunlite, all types of hormones, biochemistry tests can be done.
Cardiac makers or pregnancy detection can be processed.
5. ELISA READER
It is a compact microprocessor-controlled, photometer system.
Designed to read and calculate the results of invitro clinical diagnostic chemistries
Light energy from an overhead lamp is focused by a lens, and then passed vertically through the sample. readings can be taken very quickly at both 400 and 600 nm. A photodetector convert transmitted light energy into electrical signals which are amplified and interpreted.
6. IMMUNOLOGY TECHNIQUES:
1. AGGLUTINATION REACTION TECHNIQUES:
A. Blood Grouping and Rh Typing Test:
Blood tests are used to determine physiological and biochemical states such as disease, mineral content, drug effectiveness, and organ function.
Although the term blood test is used, most routine tests (except for most haematology) are done on plasma or serum instead of blood cells. # ABO blood grouping system:
7. Blood group notation:
According to above blood grouping systems, you can belong to either of following 8 blood groups:
A Rh+, B Rh+, AB Rh+, 0 Rh+ A Rh- , B Rh- , AB Rh- , 0 Rh-
8. B. VDRL (Venerable Disease Research Laboratory) TEST
Aim: To perform carbon antigen test for Syphilis testing.
Syphilis is a sexually transmitted (veneral) disease caused by Treponema pallidum. Non Treponemal antilipodal antibodies are traditionally referred as Reagins.
During the testing procedure, the specimen, serum or plasma is mixed with the Carbogen reagent and allowed to react for eight minutes.
If antilipodal antibodies are present in the specimen, they will react with the carbogen reagent forming visible black floccules. If antilipodal antibodies are not present in the specimen, there will be no flocculation.
