1.Speed Control Of Induction Motor Using Pulse Width Modulation (PWM) Technique

2.Abstract
This project reveals a new kind of method to control speed of induction motor, PWM (Pulse Width Modulation) is the term used to describe using a digital signal to generate an analogue output signal. This project is concerned with principles of PWM, PWM Signal Generators and its use in induction motor. Also, the project places the emphasis on the simulating of PWM frequency inverter for induction motor. Via the simulation of dynamic process for induction motor, it analyzes the instantaneous characteristics of PWM control technology for induction motor.

3.Introduction
Why control is Necessary
To run the motor efficiently, speed of the motor is to be varied in order to match with the load and to get maximum efficiency.

Therefore, a motor controller that can vary its speed, will save the energy.
Objective
Purpose of the project is to describe an ac motor controller that can be applied to ac induction motor and to verify the results of PWM as well.

4.Principle of Speed Control
Faraday’s Law-
The ac induction motor requires a constant voltage/frequency ratio in order to work at the saturation flux. So that it can supply its rated torque.

5.Torque-speed characteristics of Induction Motor

6.Effect of constant voltage-
Motor speed will increase but it will loose its saturation flux at higher speeds.
With increase in frequency speed increases.

7.some important working equations

8.Effect of constant frequency-
Motor speed will not increase but torque drops off as voltage decreases.

Speed of the motor remains constant no matter what the voltage is.

9.Variable voltage & frequency-
Motor maintains the saturation flux at all speeds. Motor can supply the rated torque over the full range of frequencies.
10.Importance of v/f ratio
